The Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC) is an undergraduate committee that advises the BSOS Associate Dean and Dean on undergraduate matters, provides a forum for student leaders to propose and launch initiatives to support undergraduates in BSOS, and offers a forum for discussion and action on matters pertinent to the undergraduate experience at the University of Maryland. We operate with 4 committees that are committed to this mission including Student Services, Academics, Programming, and Outreach.
Leonard Fomin
Chair
Leonard Fomin is a senior majoring in Government and Politics, and Accounting. This year, he is serving as the Chair and the At-Large Anthropology representative, following his service last year as the Student Government Association (SGA) representative. As chair, he is looking forward to implementing the ’26-’27 DSAC Vision (increasing opportunities for extracurricular learning, tracking student well-being, developing resources for uncertain career landscape, and ensuring resource accessibility) alongside the council. This semester, Leonard will host the BSOS Undergraduate 3MT, a graduate-level thesis competition for students who have completed research and are looking to strengthening their communication skills. After graduating from UMD, he will pursue a Master’s in Public Administration to prepare for a career in local or county government. In addition to DSAC, Leonard remains active in the SGA, the University Senate, and Alternative Breaks.
